unshittify.dev is run by Andreas Duess, Toronto, Canada. This page covers what the site collects and what happens to it.
What we collect
When you use the submit form
Everything you type into the form, plus the country your request came from (supplied by Cloudflare). The form is emailed to the maintainer's inbox. It is not stored in a database on this site. Your email address is optional; if you give it, it is used only to reply about your submission.
If your submission is published, we publish the project details and the credit name you chose. We never publish your email address.
Analytics
Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. IP addresses are anonymised.
If you visit from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, you see a consent banner and Google Analytics loads only if you accept. Everywhere else it loads when you arrive, and you can switch it off with "cookie settings" in the footer. See the cookie policy.
Hosting
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and block abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare: hosting, security, sending form emails
- Google: email inbox (Google Workspace) and Google Analytics
Both may process data outside Canada, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
Form emails are kept as long as they are useful for running the site, then deleted. Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Use the form and choose "message". You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your local data protection authority.
What we don't do
No advertising, no selling or sharing data for marketing, no accounts, no newsletter.
Changes
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it.
